You shot the latest Stevie May campaign in Cartagena, Colombia... Tell us about this spot! What inspired you to travel there?
I have always wanted to visit Colombia for it's rich and vibrant culture. The old world charm in the historical walled city of Cartagena was the perfect backdrop for a Stevie May campaign. The city feels like a fairy tale with it's colourful colonial homes, cobbled streets and wooden balconies draped in flowers.
Most memorable moment on this trip?
We received an invitation to a house party in Bogota and I was blown away by how friendly and open all of the locals at the party were. Colombians are very proud of their beautiful country and they love to welcome foreigners. We ended up having one of the most fun nights out of our lives with these beautiful warm people who are incredibly passionate for living and dancing.
Favourite place in Colombia for...
- A bite to eat
I loved the ceviche at Pezetarian (you can find them in Cartagena and Medellin).
- A drink
Cafe Del Mar in Cartagena is a must at sunset.
- A dance
Bolivar in Medellin. Great cocktails, atmosphere and reggaeton!
- A spot of culture
Cartagena. The city is so rich in history with its centuries old architecture.
Highlight of this shoot with Stevie May?
Experiencing the warm Colombian hospitality. The people of Cartagena were so accommodating and fascinated with the shoot. We even had our very own cheerleader at one stage (a local fashion student who asked if he could come along and watch the shoot unfold) Every time our makeup artist completed a touch up or we finished shooting a look, our new friend would erupt in loud applause. I wanted to keep him and bring him along to all of my shoots.
